Because of Newton I have to retake Calculus!

Well Linus Torvalds is obviously going to win for Linux, but i really think Newton was more of a "Nerd" so linus created an OS, Newton set the foundation for modern day physics!

I have to say Leonardo Da Vinci. First of all he was very smart. Second, he was very lazy. Nerds are known for procrastinating all the time. Also, he had the broadest scope of activity. Larger than that of any other of those mentioned (Except me, of course).

no it was newton
without him we could calculate, we wont have computers, some highpeed moving objects and all moving object wouldn't be figured out without his law we won't have mirrors, technology wouldn't be here without him... airplane helichopers almost all things wont work without his law...

Arjuna, good points... looking at you're geek level you may well be on par with Da Vinci lol... He was also a member of the Priory of Psion (Knights templar etc) and a lover of cryptography and dual meanings, alot of which are hidden in his paintings.

keitherz,... newtong was the most influential... But he wasn't really a nerd. He was sometimes more than a nerd. For example he lacked some of the typical points of the nerds ... He didn't procrastinate. Although he was a bit depressive... and he had some mental problems..

At any rate, tough call. :D

Oh, and just to piss everybody off,... If it wouldn't have been for Newton, we would still have all that keitherz says. Mirrors have been invented long before newton. And technology is where it is mainly because of the invention of calculus, which was invented by newton and leibnitz at the same time.

And the three laws of newtons had already been enuntiated more or less before his time, he just gave them their nice mathematical appearance.

If Newton never existed, his laws of mechanics would have appeared in that form either way, because of Leibnitz.

(I do not really like Newton... And I don't like Dan Brown either)

Just had to do some coursework stuff on Raymond, the guy seems to be a racist ass who tries to do huge projects with GUIs in Perl, and then cries that Perl sucks because he can't do it.

Bill Gates is the 2nd biggest nerd of all times?
IMO he's just a clever businessman.
