How to Get Involved

This site is all about its members. It is what you make of it! There are many ways to get involved with the both the content and development of the site, some of which are detailed below.

Many of the features for contributing are accompanied by reward points which can be exchanged for site features, however we like to encourage contribution by members for their own self improvement and for the benefit of the community as a whole.

  1. Submit an article
Writing an article about a subject you know something about and want to share is a great way to spread knowledge and raise discussion. It's amazing how much authors and readers alike gain from the process of submitting an article to the site for the enjoyment of the members.
  2. Become an editor
Got a keen eye for detail and are technically competant? We're always on the lookout for people to edit articles submitted to the site.
  3. Write a blog
Everyone knows what a blog is .. dont they! Well write your own here on the site.
  4. Make an Article Request
We're always looking for new and exciting topics on technology to write about. If you would like to request an article on a particular topic, send it in, and we'll try our best to dazzle you with our 1337 writing skills.
  5. Make a Test Request
Want a challenging test to assess your skills. If we don't have it in the Test Centre already, maybe you should request it . . .
  6. Write a geek level
Geek challenges are the most popular aspect of the site. People love to test their programming skills and learn new ones. You can easily send us a challenge idea which we can get running in no time at all. Just keep the challenge idea to something programming or math related, and let your imagination run wild!
  7. Submit a Geek Test
The Geek Test Centre is a great way to test your knowledge on a subject and compete with other memebers. We are always looking for new tests, and adding them to the system is really simple.
  8. Use OpenSearch?
We utilise the opensearch site search description technology. You can use it to integrate opensearch with your browser, or to ensure your site gets the best indexing possible. More details can be found at here.
  9. Create a new poll
Got something you'd like to put to the vote? Submit a new poll to the site! It will get activated as soon as the previous poll expires.
  10. Site Feedback
Found a bug, frustrated that you always have to click multiple links to perform a task, or got a great new idea for a brand new module for the site? Send in your ideas, and the development team will be only too glad to add in new features and make sure you get the credit.
  11. Budding website developer
The site is written in php with a mysql database. Elybis did a great job of making the site very simple to add new modules to. We're always on the lookout for people who want to help contribute to the success of the site. As long as you can setup your own local apache/php installation and are confident using cvs, we'd be glad to hear from you.
  12. Your OSIDrive
Use our server space free of charge! Store your files, keep them private or even serve them up via our webserver.

  16. Got a software project idea?
We have members who are interested in working together to develop software for various operating systems in various languages. If you have an idea for a project or want to get involved in some of our projects, then get in touch.
  17. Open source wiz
