The Open Source programmer no longer needs to be the "starving artist" type. Open source development is becoming a profitable industry. The JBoss Group, headed by the open source evangelist Marc Fleury, has just recieved $10 million in venture capital, and his plans for the money could effect all open source developers...

In this interview, Fleury explains his plans to expand the JBoss Group's role as an Open Source umbrella company. The JBoss Group currently supports quite a few open source projects by paying a salary to members of the their development teams.

Is this the future of software development? Are the specs about to be dragged from the hands of the business people and placed into those of the techies?

Its certainly an interesting vision!
